White tuna

Also known as Albacore Tuna, Thunnus Alalunga or Albacore is the most valued tuna species for its texture and mild flavor.



It is the highest quality fish in the tuna family.

The best specimens of White Tuna

We commonly call it “Bonito del Norte” because it is caught in the Bay of Biscay in the Cantabrian Sea. It is a seasonal fish that is caught during the fishing season, also called “Cantabrian Coast” or “Bonito Coast”.

In order to maintain the quality and texture of the bonito as much as possible and also to improve the sustainability of our seas, tuna is fished mostly with hooks, one by one, using traditional fishing gear.

Advantages of White Tuna

When we eat white tuna, we are eating a healthy and wholesome food, essential for a balanced diet. Its high nutritional value increases when it is canned. In addition, canned white tuna can benefit from the added nutritional value of other products (such as olive oil).

Panned white tuna is rich in proteins (of high biological value) and contains a large amount of vitamins (A, B, B12 and D, as well as E, which has a protective antioxidant effect). It provides minerals such as calcium and iodine, essential for metabolism.

Its meat is rich in omega-3 fatty acids that contribute to lower cholesterol and triglyceride levels in the blood. It thus helps to reduce the risk of cardiovascular diseases. In addition, omega-3 is essential in the nervous tissue and retina, as it is part of its cells.

It is a highly recommended food for the full neurological and ocular development of children, as the retina and nervous system are still in formation.
